European Theme Parks To Visit With The Family

Anyone who has followed our family adventures over the last decade of my blogging life will know that we are a big Disney-loving family! Our holidays usually involve a visit to the Magic in some form or another, but it may surprise you to know that I am starting to think about non-Disney trips I'd like to take with my family while the kids are still young.

We love theme parks, and while researching recently I came across some European theme parks that sound absolutely wonderful...without a talking Mouse in sight!

So if Disney isn't your thing but you'd like to experience the thrill of a theme park holiday with your kids, read on to discover some hidden gems you may not be familiar with!

**1. Siam Park, Tenerife: Where Thrills Meet Tropical Paradise**

Picture this: lush greenery, crystal-clear waters, and adrenaline-pumping slides that'll make your heart skip a beat—welcome to Siam Park! Nestled in the sun-kissed embrace of Tenerife, this Thai-themed water park is a family favourite for more reasons than one. Imagine hurtling down the Tower of Power, a near-vertical slide that'll have you screaming with delight as you zip through an aquarium filled with vibrant marine life. If that's too intense, fear not; there are plenty of other attractions suited for all ages, from the gentle currents of the Lazy River to the towering waves of the Wave Palace.

But it's not just the rides that make Siam Park shine—it's the attention to detail. Every corner is adorned with exotic flora, and the architecture transports you to the heart of Thailand. Plus, there are ample spots to relax and refuel, whether you're craving authentic Thai cuisine or a refreshing cocktail by the pool. A family visit to Siam Park sounds like an experience to remember, and one that is certainly high on my travel bucket list!

**2. Efteling, Netherlands: Where Fairy Tales Come to Life**

Next stop: Efteling, the enchanting theme park nestled in the Netherlands. Step into a world where fairy tales are more than just bedtime stories—they're living, breathing adventures waiting to unfold. From the moment you set foot in Efteling, you're transported to a realm of magic and wonder, where talking animals roam the forests and castles loom in the distance.

One of the highlights? Symbolica: Palace of Fantasy. This immersive dark ride takes you on a journey through a whimsical palace filled with surprises at every turn. Whether you're soaring through the skies or delving into the depths of the earth, each twist and turn is a testament to Efteling's commitment to storytelling and imagination.

But the magic doesn't stop there. Efteling boasts a diverse array of attractions, from thrilling roller coasters to charming boat rides along winding rivers. And with themed restaurants serving up delicious Dutch treats, you'll never go hungry on your quest for adventure.

**3. Europa-Park, Germany: Where Europe Unites in Fun**

Prepare to be dazzled as we make our way to Europa-Park, Germany's answer to Disney-level entertainment. Spanning over 95 hectares, this sprawling park is divided into themed areas representing different European countries, from the bustling streets of Italy to the snowy peaks of Switzerland.

What sets Europa-Park apart? It's the sheer variety of attractions on offer. Whether you're a daredevil craving high-speed thrills or a little one in search of pint-sized adventures, there's something for everyone here. Take a spin on the iconic Eurosat roller coaster, or embark on a virtual reality journey through space aboard Eurosat Coastiality. And with live shows, street performances, and seasonal events throughout the year, there's never a dull moment at Europa-Park.

**4. PortAventura World, Spain: Where Adventure Knows No Bounds**

Hold on tight as we journey to PortAventura World, Spain's premier theme park destination. Situated on the sun-drenched shores of the Costa Dorada, this sprawling resort is home to not one, not two, but three incredible theme parks, each offering its own unique thrills and excitement.

First up, there's PortAventura Park, where you can brave the dizzying heights of Shambhala, Europe's tallest roller coaster, or cool off in the watery depths of Angkor, a thrilling water ride set in an ancient Cambodian temple. Then there's Ferrari Land, where speed demons can test their mettle on the vertical accelerator, catapulting from 0 to 180 kilometers per hour in just five seconds flat.

And let's not forget about Caribe Aquatic Park, where you can splash, slide, and swim your way through a tropical paradise. With white sandy beaches, palm-fringed lagoons, and adrenaline-pumping slides, it's the perfect place to beat the heat and make a splash with the whole family.

So there you have it, folks—a whirlwind tour of some of Europe's most thrilling theme parks, each offering its own unique blend of excitement, adventure, and family fun. Whether you're soaring through the skies at Europa-Park or making a splash at Siam Park, one thing's for sure: the memories you make will last a lifetime.
